Richard T. Bauer, DPM
Richard T. Bauer III, DPM FACFAS, is a double Board-Certified Podiatric foot and ankle surgeon with extensive experience in the field. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Siena College and his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his post-doctoral training at St. Barnabas Hospital Health System, a Regional Level I Trauma Center located in New York City, where he later served as Chief Resident.
After returning to the Capital District, Dr. Bauer founded Summit Foot and Ankle and has held positions at various institutions including the Samaritan Wound and Incontinence Center, Podiatry Associates of Greenwich, and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Dr. Bauer is Board Certified in Foot and Reconstructive Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, ABFAS as the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, ABPM. He holds active licenses and certifications in New York State, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bauer has been involved in numerous committees, consulting roles, hospital affiliations, and has presented research at various conferences and seminars. His professional interests include functional reconstruction of the foot and ankle, optimizing biomechanics in the young athlete as well as minimizing recovery using regenerative therapies.
Dr. Bauer is affiliated with Saratoga Hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Center as well as St. Peter’s Hospital System.
Michele Colon, DPM
Michele Colon, DPM is a Board-Certified Podiatric foot and ankle surgeon with extensive experience in podiatric medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of California at Berkeley, her Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University, and her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine. She completed her post-doctoral training at Hawthorne Hospital, Los Angeles Metropolitan Medical Center, and the Baja Project for Crippled Children, where she later served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Colon was in private practice for several years in California and has also worked at Skilled Nursing Facilities and Community Health Clinics in New York, providing care to the underserved. She holds active licenses and certifications in both California and New York.
Throughout her career, Dr. Colon has taught Anatomy & Physiology to pre-medical students and nursing students, holding teaching positions at various institutions including Western University College of Podiatric Medicine, Marist College, Mount Saint Mary College, Dutchess Community College, and Mildred-Elley College.
Her professional interests include podopediatrics, preventative diabetic foot care, and holistic podiatry, which takes a personalized approach to treating foot and ankle pain.
Dr. Colon is affiliated with Columbia Memorial Health Hospital in the Hudson Valley, part of the Albany Med Health System.
